Volleyball Improves to 18-3 at UCF

Orlando, Fla. - The University of Tulsa volleyball team improved to 18-3 on the season with a 3-1 (30-20, 30-26, 30-26, 30-28) victory over UCF at the UCF Arena on Tuesday night.

Senior Dana Weddle posted 17 kills to lead a trio of Hurricane hitters with double-digit kills performances. Fellow senior Sam Rutherford also reached double figures with 10 kills. Sophomores Kassiana Urnau and Julia Silva posted their 11th double-doubles of the season as well. Urnau recorded 15 kills and 12 digs, while Silva had 52 assists and 13 digs.

Weddle, who finished the match with only one hitting error in 25 attempts, also set a personal best with a .640 hitting percentage. She also scored the match-sealing kill in the fourth game. Silva recorded more than 50 assists for the seventh time this season.

In a season that has already produced school records, the Hurricane has tied its best conference output. With five conference wins on the year, TU tied last season record-setting mark. The 18 total victories is the sixth most in school history.

Tulsa returns to the friendly confines of the Donald W. Reynolds Center on Friday, Oct. 21, by hosting Memphis at 7 p.m. The Hurricane, now 5-2 in Conference USA play, trail the Tigers by only half-a-game for second place in the league standings. Memphis (13-9, 5-1) defeated conference leader Marshall last Sunday.
