Tulsa, Okla. - The University of Tulsa needed the one-two punch of sophomore Kassiana Urnau and junior Germana Hilario to fend off a pesky UAB squad for a 3-0 (30-26, 30-27, 30-26) Conference USA victory at the Donald W. Reynolds Center on Sunday. A crowd of 156 witnessed the Golden Hurricane remain undefeated at home during C-USA play.

Urnau led all players with 14 kills, while Hilario posted 13 kills in the match. Sophomore setter Julia Silve added 35 assists and 10 digs for her 13th double-double of the season, the third most in C-USA this season. Senior Evyn Wills posted 22 digs in the contest to lead that category.

Senior Isabel Oquendo and freshman Casey Dent tried to keep the Blazers in the match by posting 10 kills apiece. UAB also got seven blocks from Shaniquwa Cooper. Senior Dana Weddle also posted six blocks helping TU reach double-figures in block assists for the 13th time this season.

Tulsa also got the job done serving, by posting 10 service aces. Hilario led the charge with five aces, including back-to-back ones in the first game that helped ignite a TU come-back. It was the seventh time this season, TU had reached double-digits in service aces.

After winning all three of its matches this week, TU will get a few days rest before traveling to league-leading Marshall on Friday, Oct. 28. Tulsa will conclude the Eastern swing with a match at East Carolina on Sunday, Oct. 30. The Hurricane will return to Tulsa for a three-match home stand beginning with Southern Miss on Nov. 1.
