Houston Sweeps Hurricane for Top Volleyball Spot

Houston, Texas - The University of Tulsa volleyball squad was tied with Houston for the top spot in the Conference USA's West Division heading into Sunday afternoon's match. The Cougars used 49 Hurricane errors to sweep TU, 3-0 (30-21, 31-29, 30-13) at the Athletics/Alumni Center.
Houston owned a .328-.099 advantage in hitting percentage, as well as a 51-41 advantage in kills in the first meeting between the to schools. Tulsa's hitting average was the lowest of the season, as were the total number of kills for the Hurricane.
Sophomore Fabiola Nepomuceno led Tulsa with nine kills, while junior Brie Penaluna and senior Dana Weddle both added eight kills for the Hurricane. Sophomore Julia Silva posted 34 assists to lead TU. Senior Evyn Wills contributed 14 digs.
Tulsa (15-3, 2-2 C-USA) returns to the friendly confines of the Donald W. Reynolds Center on Friday, Oct. 14, hosting UTEP. TU will play four of its next five matches at the Reynolds Center, with the fifth match being the re-scheduled match against UCF.
