Tulsa, Okla. - The No. 51-ranked University of Tulsa women's tennis team got back to its winning ways, as it swept the Wichita State Shockers, 7-0, at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center, on the outside courts. The Golden Hurricane is now 6-7 on the season, while the Shockers fall to 7-5.

"It was a good win for us after having lost some close matches to some good teams," said Head Coach Paige McMurray. "It was important for us to come out and play to get the win and we did what we needed to do today."

In singles action, the Golden Hurricane defeated the Shockers in straight sets in all six matches. Sophomore Santie Delport bounced back from trailing 3-4 in the first set, to winning the match, 6-4, 6-0 over Wendi Webster. Sophomore Kindsay Grimes defeated Anna Martorell, 6-3, 6-0. Junior Timberly Greenly posted a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Jackie Richey, 6-3, 6-1.

Freshman Carla Zabaleta jumped out to 6-1 lead in the match after the first set and dropped Genevieve Spink, 6-1, 6-4. Junior Daniela Muscolino won seven straight games on her way to winning her 63rd match of her career, as she defeated Ana Exeni, 6-4, 6-0. This win moves Muscolino into sole possession of seventh on TU's all-time single wins chart, two wins behind Monica Poveda (1996-2000) in sixth. Senior Lisette Pereira finished it out for TU as she beat Alejandra Ripoll, 6-4, 6-0.

"The bottom half of our line-up played well," said McMurray. "Santie won 10 games in a row. They went out and competed hard today."

TU swept doubles action, winning all three matches. Grimes and Delport paired up to beat Spink and Richey, 8-2. Muscolino and Zabaleta defeated Webster and Exeni, 8-6. Freshman Agostina Santoro and Pereira finished off the Shockers as they beat Ripoll and Martovell, 9-7.
