Tulsa Women's Tennis Dominates UTEP, 6-1

Tulsa, Okla. - The No. 66-ranked University of Tulsa women's tennis team won its second straight match as they defeated UTEP, 6-1, Saturday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. Tulsa improves to 9-10 on the season, and 1-2 in the WAC.
An injury-plagued UTEP only traveled five players, giving Tulsa an automatic win at the number six-ladder position in singles and at the number three-ladder position in doubles.
Tulsa won the two doubles matches that were contested to win the doubles point. Daniela Muscolino and Carla Zabaleta paired up to defeated Weronika Bloczynska and Kendall Exelby, 8-4. The duo of Tiffany Smith and Santie Delport won 8-4 over Katherine Palider and Teri Wilkerson.
In singles, TU won four of five matches played. Zabaleta defeated Exelby, 6-0, 6-1. Delport posted a 7-5, 6-0 win over Tea Spirta. Timberly Greenly returned to action after a minor injury, only to have Wilkerson retire from the match, 3-6, 7-6, retired. Kindsay Grimes beat Palider, 6-2, 6-3.
UTEP's Bloczynska defeated Lisette Pereira, 6-2, 6-7, 1-0 for the Miners' only win.
The Golden Hurricane women's tennis team travels to Lawrence, Kan. to play the Jayhawks, April 6.
