Tulsa, Okla. - The University of Tulsa volleyball team used a balanced attack on Wednesday night to sweep UMKC, 3-0 (30-16, 30-24, 30-21) at the Donald W. Reynolds Center. A crowd of 104 witnessed TU's 10th victory, in 17 matches, over the Kangaroos in the overall series.

Junior Amy Meyer led the Golden Hurricane with a match-best nine kills, while fellow junior Germana Hilario posted eight kills for TU. Sophomore Julia Silva posted a double-double with 28 assists and 11 digs. She also recorded a .750 hitting percentage with six kills in eight attempts. Senior Evyn Wills also posted double-figures in digs with 10.

TU blew out to 3-0 leads in the first two games of the contest. The third game did not start as well as a pair of Hurricane errors gave UMKC a quick 2-0 leads. However, Tulsa quickly tied the game at 5-5 which not only extinguished the Kangaroos' only lead, it was also the only tie on the night.

Tulsa led in almost every category including kills (41-30), hitting percentage (.262-.026). The Hurricane posted 11 service aces in addition to nine blocks, while forcing 27 hitting errors by the Kangaroos.

The Hurricane returns to Conference USA play on Saturday afternoon by hosting SMU. The 2 p.m. match at the Reynolds Center will precede the TU/Houston football game. Fans with a ticket to the football game will receive free admission to the volleyball match as well.
