Tulsa Women's Tennis Team Overcomes Wichita State, 5-2

Tulsa, Okla. - The Tulsa women's tennis team overcame Wichita State, 5-2, on Saturday evening at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on the TU campus. The Golden Hurricane posts a 4-0 record to begin the season.
Tulsa's Agostina Santoro and Tiffany Smith surpassed the Shockers' Torrie Browning and Jackie Richey, 8-4, in the No. 3 doubles position, while Kindsay Grimes and Daniela Muscolino registered an 8-6 victory over Wichita State's Anna Egorova and Ana Ines Exeni in the No. 2 slot to win the doubles point. Tulsa's Santie Delport and Thalia Diaz-Barriga dropped a hard-fought match at the No. 1 position, 9-8 (2).
TU's Santoro claimed a quick, 6-0, 6-1, win over Genevieve Spink in the No. 6 slot to begin singles play. Smith, however, fell at the No. 5 position, 6-2, 6-2, as Muscolino lost her match, 6-2, 6-0, in the No. 1 slot to tie the duel 2-2.
Diaz-Barriga netted a 6-3, 6-4 victory in the No. 4 slot, as Grimes tallied a 7-6, 6-2 mark in the No. 3 position to win the duel. Delport posted a 6-1, 5-7, 6-4 victory over Egorova in the No. 2 slot.
The Golden Hurricane returns to action next Saturday, hosting Oral Roberts at 9:00 a.m. and Creighton at 3:00 p.m. at the Case Tennis Center.
