Tulsa Women's Tennis Team Defeats UALR, 4-1

Tulsa, Okla. - Tulsa's 75th-ranked women's tennis team netted a 4-1 win over Arkansas-Little Rock on Sunday morning at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on the TU campus. The Golden Hurricane women, which own an 8-4 mark this season, will take on Northern Illinois at 1:30 p.m. today.
Tulsa junior Kindsay Grimes and senior Daniela Muscolino combined for a quick 8-2 win over Laetitia Bourgeon and Jenna Hirdle in the No. 1 doubles position. Junior Santie Delport and freshman Thalia Diaz-Barriga dropped their match, 8-4, in the No. 2 slot. TU senior Tiffany Smith and freshman Julie Westfall earned a hard-fought 9-8 victory against Outi Jarvinen and Ellie Vicary in the No. 3 position, giving the Golden Hurricane the doubles point.
In singles action, Muscolino captured a 6-3, 6-0 mark over Hirdle in the No. 1 slot, as Delport registered a 6-1, 6-1 win over Jarvinen in the No. 2 position. Diaz-Barriga came up short in her match at the No. 3 slot, falling 6-2, 6-3. Smith recorded a 6-3, 6-3 victory in the No. 5 position for the duel-winning point. Grimes and sophomore Agostina Santoro's matches were unfinished in the No. 4 and No. 6 slots, respectively.
