TU Women Advance Three to Quarterfinals

Waco, Texas - The University of Tulsa women's tennis team opened the 2006 fall season by advancing three to singles draw quarterfinals at the Baylor Invitational in Waco, Texas.
Santie Delport and Agostina Santoro advancing in the green draw, with Delport collecting a 6-2, 6-3 win over Hillary Collins of SMU and Santoro taking a 6-1, 7-6 decision against Karolina Rowinski of Wyoming.
Thalia Diaz-Barriga collected the other quarterfinal qualification with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Manijee Ashrafi of Lamar after drawing a bye in the first round.
The doubles squad of Carla Zabaleta and Kindsay Grimes collected the only doubles win for the Golden Hurricane, taking an 8-1 victory against a duo from Sam Houston State.
Competition at the Baylor Invitational will resume tomorrow morning and carry into Sunday.
