Tulsa Women Stay Perfect With 4-3 Win Over Rice

Tulsa Jumped to the 1-0 lead after sweeping the doubles matches. Kindsay Grimes and Carla Zabaleta took the first win at the two position, 8-3, over Dominique Karas and Rebecca Lin. Thalia Diaz-Barriga and Jie Zeng won the point clincher with an 8-6 win over Emily Braid and Christine Dao, while Santie Delport and Marta Marcinkowska completed the sweep with an 8-6 defeat of Tiffany Lee and Julie Chao at the one position.
TU moved ahead 2-0 with a 6-3, 6-2 win at the two position by Zabaleta over Dao, and went to 3-0 when Agostina Santoro dispensed with Braid at the six spot, 6-0, 6-3.
Rice answered with a 6-3, 6-3 win by Karas over Eleonora Kuruc at the five position to cut the TU lead to 3-1.
The Golden Hurricane clinched the win with a win at the three position by Delport over Lee, 6-2, 3-6, 7-5.
Rice closed the final score to 4-3 with wins at the one position and four position.
Tulsa will be back in action on February 13 when it takes on Oklahoma at 3 p.m. at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
