Thalia Diaz-Barriga helped Tu to a 5-2 win over Kansas State.

Manhattan, Kan. - Tulsa held off a persistant Kansas State to pick up a 5-2 win at the Washburn Tennis Facility on Saturday.

Tulsa (13-2, 2-0 CUSA) won all three doubles matches to earn the doubles point and jumped ahead in singles before holding off a late charge by Kansas State (2-6, 0-1 Big 12).

The Hurricane swept the doubles point for an early 1-0 lead. Kindsay Grimes and Carla Zabaleta grabbed an 8-5 win over Katka Kudlackova and Olga Klimova, while Santie Delport and Marta Marcinkowska added a 9-7 win over Viviana Yrureta and Fernanda Da Valle. Thalia Diaz-Barriga and Jie Zeng completed the sweep with an 8-3 win against Natasha Vieira and Tamar Kvaratskhelia.

Tulsa carried the momentum into singles play and won the first set in five of the six matches.

Tulsa went up 2-0 when Diaz-Barriga finished off K-State's Kudlackova, 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4 singles. Tulsa's Santie Delport then defeated K-State's Fernanda Da Valle, 6-3, 3-6, 6-4, to give the Golden Hurricane a 3-0 advantage.

Kindsay Grimes clinched the victory with a 6-2, 1-6, 6-4 win over Yrureta.

Agostina Santoro put TU up 5-1 with a 4-6, 7-6 (7), 6-2 over Klimova.

Tulsa will next be in action when it travels to LSU on March 16.
