Tulsa Head Coach Doug Wojcik:
Opening statement...
"I don't know if you ever deserve anything, you have earn what you get, but I'm afraid our fans would never come back if we lost that one. It was a great play at the end by Ray Reese to get the ball into Jerome Jordan. Give a lot of credit to Ray and Jerome on that play. It was designed to go there with three seconds. I gave Ben a chance to explore with 12 seconds and then decided to call the timeout."
On UAB...
"They are a good basketball team and they have really skilled players. Paul Delaney III, who you didn't see last year because of the knee injury, was outstanding tonight. We couldn't stop him on our ball-screen defense. They have Kinnard on the wing and Toney who shoots 40 percent from three-point range on the wing as well. They spread you out and roll Crawford into the lane. It was a great game plan on their part. They had us down but in the end we just hung in there and found a way to win."
On the final play...
"It was a similar play to the one we ran at the conference tournament last year, but we just used Ben Uzoh as a decoy. I just called the play, they knew what to do and I made sure they knew what to do."
Junior Jerome Jordan
On winning the game at the buzzer...
"I told myself to try my hardest to never let that happen again, losing a game at the buzzer. I knew we were down one, I was just going to either try and get a foul going into the shot, or go straight up and put it in. It seemed like it took too long for that ball to go in. That was first time I've ever hit a game-winning shot."
UAB Head Coach Mike Davis:
On each team's final possession...
"On our final possession I thought Howard Crawford had a clear shot to the basket, and I thought it was a goal-tend. We had a chance by shooting two free throws and made one. Then they made their play at end. We should have been up two points and it wouldn't have mattered about their shot at the end, but being up only one gave them opportunity to win the game with any basket."
