Karaitiana Moves Into Semifinals At Midland

MIDLAND, Texas - Senior Jo-Anne Karaitiana of the University of Tulsa women's tennis team won all of her matches to move into the semifinals of the Racquet Club Collegiate Invitational Saturday.
In her first match, she lost the opening set 6-4 to UTA's Linda Aqvist, but she was able to recover in the second set with a 6-2 win. In the super tiebreaker to decide the match, Karaitiana captured the win with an 11-9 win.
In the round of 16, she defeated No. 8-seeded Ali Walters of Pepperdine 7-6, 7-6. She then went on to upset No. 2 seed Rebekka Hanle of Rice 7-5, 6-2 in the quarterfinals.
Karaitiana will face Rice's Ana Guzman in the semifinals Sunday. The doubles team of Karaitiana and senior Alexandra Kichoutkin remain alive for Sunday's final day.
