Hurricane Competes In Day One at Norman

NORMAN, Okla. - Three members of The University of Tulsa women's tennis team advanced in singles action on Day One of the Sooner Fall Invitational Friday.

Junior Anastasia Erofeeva defeated Kelsey Garland of Texas Tech 7-5, 6-4 in the Singles A Draw.

Both junior Bonny Davidson and freshman Anamaria Candanoza moved on in Singles D. Davidson defeated Portland's Stephanie Fuchs 6-0, 6-1, and Candanoza dropped UALR's Andrea Steen-Rosten 3-6, 6-1, 6-2.

Sophomore Meredith Burns lost to Whitney Ritchie of Oklahoma 6-1, 6-2 in Singles B. Junior Caroline Beaulieu fell 6-2, 6-3 in Singles C to Veronika Blaskova of Wichita State.

The doubles team of Erofeeva and Davidson won both of its matches in the Doubles B Draw. They first knocked off Monika Hadvigerova and Glada D'ortona of UT Arlington 8-5, and then defeated Paula Dinuta and Carolina Barboza of North Texas 8-2.

Burns/Beaulieu lost to Kelsey Sundaram and Jade Frampton of Arkansas in Doubles A, and then took down Yana Kakovkina and Rachel Pierce of University of Arkansas-Little Rock 8-6.

All members of the Golden Hurricane will play in singles action Saturday. Doubles matches will be completed Sunday.
