Tulsa Rowers Compete at Head of the Oklahoma on Saturday

Tulsa, Oklahoma - The Tulsa rowers will kick off the 2013 fall campaign at the Head of the Oklahoma and OG&E Night Sprints on Saturday, Oct. 5th on the Oklahoma River in Oklahoma City, Okla. TU will compete in the 4,000-meter head races beginning at 12:30 pm to earn a spot in the OG&E Night Sprints.
The Golden Hurricane will race 18 boats in five events, including the Women's 2x, Novice 4+, Collegiate 4+, Novice 8+ and Collegiate 8+.
"This is the largest team we've ever had and with over 50-percent of the team freshmen and sophomores, we are excited to see how these guys perform," Head Coach Kevin Harris said. "The upperclassmen have been doing a good job of showing our youngsters how to race, but we are looking forward to the chance to go live and race some of the best competition in the region. We really enjoy the Head of the Oklahoma regatta because it is a premier regatta that is just 90 minutes away from home in a fantastic venue. We appreciate Oklahoma City Riversport and Mike Knopp for putting on such a fine regatta every year."
