Tulsa (3-3) dropped a 72-62 decision to the Little Rock Trojans (6-2) in front of 3,769 fans at Jack Stephens Center Saturday afternoon. The loss snapped a three-game Tulsa winning streak, while Little Rock won its third straight contest.

A nine-point Hurricane lead in the first half was erased by Little Rock in the final eight minutes of the half. Despite a Tulsa run in the final 20 minutes where the Hurricane was able to cut its deficit to just four points, the Trojans were able to hold on for the 10-point victory

Tulsa's Jaleel Wheeler led all scorers with a new season-high of 17 points, followed by Will Magnay's season-best 13 points and Corey Henderson with 10 points. Little Rock was led by Marcus Johnson's 16 points and Lis Shoshi with 15 points and eight rebounds.

It was turnovers that were trouble for Tulsa in the first half, committing 15-first-half turnovers that led to 15 Little Rock points. For the game, the Trojans scored 19 points off of 22 Tulsa turnovers, and the home team also had an 18-2 lead in second-chance points.

"It was a tough one for us. We didn't come ready to play in the first half. We turned the ball over 15 times in that half. It was disappointing in terms of that, but we got better in the second half. We gave them to many easy baskets in the first half due to our ineptness on offense," said Haith.

"It's hard to win on the road. We need to have more toughness on the road," said Haith. "Give Little Rock credit, they made the plays they needed. I thought Marcus Johnson played outstanding for them."

Trailing by 14 points at halftime, Tulsa came out in the second-half on a 10-2 run to cut Little Rock's lead to 47-41 with 15:22 on the game clock. The Hurricane got at close as four points when Pat Birt's layup at the 14:04 mark made the score 49-45.

"In the second half we got the ball in the paint, and once we got the ball in the paint some good things happened for us. Will (Magnay) is establishing himself for us as presence in the middle on both sides of the court. I thought he played very well," added Haith.

The Trojans pushed the lead back to nine points at the 11:07 mark, outscoring Tulsa 7-2 in the next three minutes. Tulsa could only get as close as six points the rest of the way, as Little Rock took a 13-point lead, 69-56, with 1:48 left in the game and held on for the win.

Tulsa had a huge rebounding advantage in the first half, but ended up being out-rebounded 30-29 by Little Rock. Tulsa shot better from the field than the Trojans, 50 percent to 47.5 percent, but went 0-of-7 from three-point range in the final 20 minutes and shot just 23-percent from behind the arc for the game.

After a 4-4 tie early in the game, Tulsa went on a 6-0 run to take a 10-4 lead on a Henderson three-pointer at the 15:11 mark. Wheeler scored Tulsa's first seven points before the Henderson knocked down his trey. The Hurricane had an 8-2 run to take a 17-12 lead and had an 27-18 lead when Birt knocked down a three-pointer at the 8:46 mark of the first half.

Trailing by nine points, 27-18, Little Rock closed out the final eight minutes on a 27-4 run to take a 45-31 heading into intermission. The Trojans took its first lead of the game, 28-27, at the 5:16 mark on a 10-0 run in just under a three-minute stretch.

Tulsa shot well in the first half at 50-percent, making 11-of-22 field goals, but the Hurricane suffered 15 first-half turnovers. The Trojans shot 56.3 percent from the field, and turned the ball over just three times. Wheeler led all first-half scorers with 12 points, while Junior Etou had a game-high seven rebounds for the Hurricane. Johnson had 11 points and Shoshi nine points to lead the Trojans in the first 20 minutes.

Tulsa will return home for a Wednesday night game against former Missouri Valley Conference rival Illinois State to begin a three-game homestand for the Hurricane. Tulsa and Illinois State tips off at 7:00 p.m. The Hurricane hosts Oklahoma State on Saturday (Dec. 10) at 4:00 p.m. and a week later will host Texas State on Saturday, Dec 17, with a 7:00 p.m. tip-off time.
