Tulsa’s No. 26 Men’s Tennis Team Hosts No. 4 Virginia and No. 15 Southern California This Week

TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa's No. 26-ranked men's tennis team hosts two top-15-ranked opponents this week at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center. TU will take on No. 4 Virginia on Thursday, March 10, at 5:00 p.m., before facing No. 15 Southern California on Saturday, March 12, at 12:00 noon.
 
The No. 26-ranked Golden Hurricane enters the match with an overall 7-5 record. TU has a 5-3 record against ranked opponents, including wins over No. 21 California, No. 36 Notre Dame, No. 63 Wichita State, No. 64 Arkansas and No. 31 Washington.
 
­TU's junior Or Ram-Harel enters the weekend nationally ranked No. 39 in singles play, while seniors Matthew Kirby and Dylan McCloskey enter the Virginia and USC matches ranked No. 79 in doubles play.
 
In Thursday's match, Tulsa will face a Virginia team that has an overall 10-2 record. Last weekend, the Cavaliers defeated in-state rival No. 53 Virginia Tech in a 6-1 decision, prior to defeating Louisville, 7-0. Virginia has six players that are nationally ranked in singles play, and three doubles teams that are ranked in the top-50.
 
In Saturday's match, TU will take on a Southern California squad that has an overall 7-3 record. Last weekend, the Trojans lost to in-state rival No. 6 UCLA in a 5-2 decision. USC has seven players that are nationally ranked in singles play, and two doubles teams that are nationally ranked.
 
The match against Virginia is the start of an 11-match stretch where Tulsa will face only ranked opponents. In the month of March, Tulsa will take on six nationally ranked opponents with five of them currently rank in the top-25.
