Tulsa Women’s Tennis Takes 4-0 Win Over Tulane

The No. 21-ranked Tulsa Golden Hurricane women's tennis team captured a 4-0 victory against American Athletic Conference foe Tulane Saturday afternoon at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.  The Hurricane improved to 17-3 on the season, while Tulane fell to 5-13 on the year.
 
Tulsa closed out the home season by claiming the doubles point and then took straight set victories at the No. 3, 6 and 5 spots in the lineup.
 
Rongrong Leeenabanchong grabbed the first singles point with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Tulane's Elena Muller. Martha Matoula finished closely behind with a 6-3, 6-3 win over Sade Atkinson at the No. 6 position. Trailing 3-2 in the second frame, Matoula scored the next four points to end her match.
 
Renata Kuricova at the No. 5 slot closed out the match with a 6-4, 6-1 victory against Meredith Maltby. In the second frame, Kuricova scored the final five points for the victory.
 
Tulsa took the 1-0 lead after the doubles teams of Leenabanchong and Matoula at No. 2 and the No. 3 team of Saarteinen and Mahitha Dadireddy won the matches.
 
Tulsa has two road matches remaining in the regular season as the Hurricane travels next weekend to Houston for a Saturday match, and a day later will face the Rice Owls. The American Athletic Conference Tournament takes place April 20-23 in Memphis, Tennessee.
