The Tulsa women's tennis team improved to 7-2 on the season with a 7-0 victory over Sam Houston State Saturday afternoon at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

Tulsa never trailed in five of its six singles matches as freshman Martina Okalova claimed the first singles point for the Hurricane for a 2-0 lead. She had straight set 6-0 shutouts over Carrie Casey for her win at the No. 4 position.

At No. 5, Martha Matoula jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first set and went on for a 6-1 win, while claiming a 6-0 victory in the second set over Mila Milanovic.

The Hurricane clinched the team victory when Marcelina Cichon defeated Caitlyn Mitchell  6-2, 6-1 at the No. 6 slot to put Tulsa ahead 4-0.

No. 1 Ksenia Laskutova trailed in her first set by a 2-1 score before taking a 4-3 lead over Fabienne Gettwart. She lost the next two points, but won the final three points for a 7-5 victory in the first set. She cruised in the second set for a 6-1 win to put the Hurricane ahead 5-0.

Rongrong Leenabanchong put the Hurricane ahead 6-0 with her 6-3, 6-0 victory at the No. 2 position over Ema Barkovic.

Mahitha Dadireddy went to three sets with her opponent, Khee Yen Wee, at the No. 3 position, taking the first set 6-1, then dropping set two 4-6, before winning a tiebreaker for the third set at 12-10, thus clinching the 7-0 shutout for the Hurricane.

In doubles action, Tulsa's No. 3 team of Cichon/Dedireddy clamed the first win in easy fashion with a 6-1 victory, while the No. 1 doubles pair of Laskutova/Okalova held off the Sam Houston pair of Gettwart/Wee for a 6-4 win to give the Hurricane a 1-0 lead.
