Tulsa Women’s Tennis Heads to Iowa for ITA Regionals

IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Tulsa women's tennis squad returns to the court for the ITA Central Regional in Iowa City, Iowa, this weekend. The five-day tournament is set to begin on Oct. 12 and run through Oct. 16.
"We're ready to head to Iowa City," head coach Dean Orford said. "I think there's about 32 teams there, so it's a big event. We're really going to see where we're at this point."
All eight Tulsa athletes will take part in the tournament: junior Martina Okalova, senior Martha Matoula, sophomore Shura Poppe, junior Vera Ploner and newcomers Manon Meulenberg, Megan Hopton, Marina Davtyan and Ariana Capogrosso.
In doubles, Capogrosso/Matoula will pair, while Ploner/Okalova are set to work together through the rigorous competition. Poppe and Meulenberg will join forces, while the final duo will be freshmen Hopton and Davtyan.
All opening round singles and doubles matches kick off on Friday, Oct. 12, with draws expected to be announced on Thursday.
