IOWA CITY, Iowa – The University of Tulsa women's tennis squad completed an action-packed second day at the ITA Central Regional on Saturday, securing nine singles and two doubles victories on day two in Iowa.

With the wins, Arianna Capogrosso, Martha Matoula, Shura Poppe and Martina Okalova all advance to tomorrow's singles round of 32, looking to earn a spot in the round of 16, also to be played on Sunday.

In doubles, the tandems of Capogrosso/Matoula and Okalova/Ploner punched their tickets to Sunday's doubles round of 16 with victories on Saturday.

Matoula was the first to clinch her spot in tomorrow's round of 32, defeating host Iowa's Adorabol Huckleby convincingly, 6-2, 6-2. Capogrosso would follow suit, taking down Wichita State's Sarvinoz Saidhujaeva in similar fashion, 6-2, 6-2.

Not long after, Okalova won in typical dominant fashion over Yana Grechkina (UMKC), 6-1, 6-2. Poppe was the final Hurricane to clinch her spot, taking down Minnesota's Tina Kreinis in a tightly-contested match, 7-6 (8-6), 6-2.

The duo of Okalova/Ploner reigned supreme over Cammy Frie and Camila Vargas Gomez in doubles, taking the match, 8-1. Capogrosso/Matoula also showed they're a force to be reckoned with as a pair, defeating Sarvinoz Saidhujaeva and Ting-Ya Hsu (Wichita State) on Saturday morning, 8-2.

Doubles round of 16, as well as singles rounds of 32 and 16, are set to be played tomorrow with times TBA later this evening.
