Tulsa Sends Three to ITA National Fall Championships

11/6/2018 8:22:00 AM | Men's Tennis, Women's Tennis

TULSA, Okla. – University of Tulsa men's tennis standout Majed Kilani and ITA Women's Central Regional doubles champions Martina Okalova and Vera Ploner are set to compete at the ITA National Fall Championships, running from Nov. 7-11 in Surprise, Arizona.

The event, scheduled to last five days at the Surprise Tennis & Racquet Complex, kicks off tomorrow at 9 a.m. CT with the round of 64 men's and women's singles. The round of 32 men's and women's doubles will follow to round out the first day of action.

One round of singles and doubles will be played each day, with the exception of Friday, which will include two rounds of singles play. The prestigious tournament will also include a consolation bracket that results in singles and doubles champions.

Kilani qualified for the event after a stellar fall performance from the Tunisia native. The senior posted a 7-4 mark in the fall, including earning ITA Central Region Runner-Up honors at the ITA Central Regional at TU's own Case Tennis Center.

The tandem of Okalova and Ploner have been equally as impressive so far, tallying a perfect 9-0 record in the fall of 2018. The duo qualified for the National Fall Championships by becoming the fourth tandem in program history to become regional doubles champions, marking just the fifth time a Tulsa team has achieved the feat.

The 2018 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships men's and women's singles finals will stream live on ESPN3 and the ESPN App on Sunday, November 11th, beginning at 12 p.m. CT, with the women's final. The singles championships will re-air on ESPNU on Tuesday, November 13th, at 2 p.m. CT.

Official draws are expected to be announced later tonight.
