PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Senior Ksenia Laskutova was named the Player of the Year by the American Athletic Conference on Thursday, after she compiled an impressive senior campaign. Laskutova earned a unanimous all-conference team nod. Martina Okalova was also selected to the all-conference team.
Laskutova, a native of Moscow, Russia, achieved her third all-conference honor and was named the Player of the Year. She has accumulated a stellar 23-7 overall record in singles play. She was 17-4 in dual matches and collected a 4-4 mark against ranked opponents, with the biggest coming against the No. 26 ranked Lily Miyazaki of Oklahoma. Laskutova also defeated the No. 60 ranked Fatima Bizhukova of Wichita State, twice, and the No. 67 ranked Leolia Jeanjean of Arkansas. She was undefeated against conference opponents and played all but one match at the No. 1 singles position.
The sophomore Okalova, a local to Banska Bystrica, Slovakia, earned her first all-conference team selection, after recording a 19-7 overall singles mark. She was 12-4 in dual matches and is currently ranked No. 112 by the ITA. Earlier this season, she advanced to the ITA Regionals after winning five matches.
