Tulsa Volleyball Sweeps Memphis in Conference Opener

TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa volleyball squad swept Memphis in the team's conference opener on Friday, 3-0 (25-12, 25-21, 25-21), in the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
The team remains perfect at home in 2018, boasting a 4-0 record in matches on its home court.
In the first set, Rachel Moore made her presence felt offensively, boasting seven kills in the set. Moore hit .438 in the frame, while Taylor Horsfall bolstered the back line with six digs. Tulsa took the frame in convincing fashion, 25-12.
Set two played out to be a back-and-forth battle, with the Golden Hurricane taking it, 25-21. Sophomore Tulsa native Maggie Hembree added four kills on eight attempts. Hembree was an offensive workhorse for TU, hitting a season-high 10 kills on a .556 hitting percentage.
In the third and final set, Tulsa got off to a hot start, beginning the stanza on a 6-0 run. Despite the Tigers' efforts, Emily Thorson and Moore accumulated three kills each to clinch the match, 25-21.
As a team, the Golden Hurricane tallied 62 digs, 35 kills and added three service aces in the win. Mariah Pardo handled setting duties in the match, accumulating 27 assists. Thorson, Horsfall and Maddie Flora all recorded double-digit digs in the victory.
Tulsa continues its four-match homestand on Sunday, hosting Tulane (12-3) on Sept. 23 at 1 p.m. CT in the Donald W. Reynolds Center.
