Tulsa Tops Mercer on Tuesday, 6-1

TULSA, Okla. – The University of Tulsa men's tennis team (2-1) notched a victory over the Mercer Bears (1-2), 6-1, inside the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on Tuesday afternoon.
In doubles, freshmen Kody Pearson and Daniel Siddall were to first to finish, defeating Mercer's Carver Arant and Jimmy Emslie swiftly, 6-2. To follow, senior Majed Kilani and junior Jarod Hing managed a 6-1 victory over Oliver Stuart and Nicolas Guillon to secure the doubles point for the Golden Hurricane.
Heading into singles, Goodger struck first with his win over Guillon, 6-0, 6-1, to put Tulsa ahead 2-0. Shortly after, redshirt-freshman Stefan Hampe managed a straight-set victory over Arant, 6-2, 6-2 for the 3-0 Tulsa lead.
Pearson would follow suit, taking down Mercer's David Georgadze, 7-5, 7-5, followed by Kilani's No. 1 win over Stuart in straight sets, 6-1, 7-6(4) to officially clinch the match for TU.
At the No. 3 slot, Kamdem rallied from behind to take his match over the Bears' Stathis Tsiranidis, 2-6, 6-3, 6-2. To close out the match, Mercer's Fernando Guardia edged out Siddall, 6-7(3), 7-5, 7-6(2).
Up next for head coach Vince Westbrook's squad is a tough test at home, as No. 14 TCU will travel to Tulsa for a Friday night match, with first serve scheduled for 6 p.m. CT.
