Tulsa Women's Tennis Competes in Singles Main Draw on Wednesday

TULSA, Okla. -- The Tulsa women's tennis team competed in the singles main draw on Wednesday at the Saint Francis Health System ITA Women's All-American Championships. The Golden Hurricane have played all their matches at the Case Tennis Center at LaFortune Park.
Vera Ploner faced No. 50 Angela Kulikov of USC in her opening match. Ploner started to shift the momentum her way in the second set, but lost 6-1, 6-4.
No. 73 Martina Okalova was set to play No. 32 Jessica Failla of Pepperdine at 1 p.m., was delayed due to weather and the matches scheduled beforehand. Okalova would upset Failla 7-6(4), 7-5
Tulsa was also set to send out No. 5 Okalova/Ploner and Marina Davtyan/Shura Poppe in doubles competition on Wednesday, but the doubles draw was delayed due to inclement weather. The first two rounds of the draw are scheduled for Thursday, Oct. 10.
