TULSA, Okla. - Lian Benedejcic's win at No. 4 singles secured a 4-0 advantage for the Tulsa women's tennis team, as the Golden Hurricane snapped their two-match skid with a 7-0 shutout over Abilene Christian on Sunday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center on the campus of TU. With the win, the Golden Hurricane improve to 7-2 overall, while the Wildcats drop to 3-4.

The match was originally set for a 1 p.m. start but was delayed over an hour, as Abilene Christian's moring dual match vs. Oral Roberts went nearly four hours long. Tulsa was able to take advantage of the extra time, as the well-rested Golden Hurricane captured the doubles point and won all singles contests in straight sets.
In singles, No. 84 Martina Okalova was the first Hurricane to finish with a straight-sets win at No. 1 singles against Sarah Adams. Laia Conde Monfort followed with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Andrea Guerrero at No. 3 singles. In the bottom spot, Marina Davtyan defeated Sylvia Viljoen, 6-2, 6-3. Vera Ploner took down Allison Stewart in the fourth position, 6-4, 6-1. Shura Poppe was forced to a tiebreak at No. 2 singles, but secured victory with a 6-2, 7-6(6) triumph over Nini Memishishi.
The Hurricane secured the doubles point with wins in the top two spots. At No. 1 doubles, No. 34-ranked Okalova and Ploner improved to 16-6 overall with a 6-2 win over Adams and Memishishi. The clinching point came from Megan Hopton and Conde Monfort, as they staved off Fisher and Guerrero in a 6-4 victory.
Tulsa is set to play a pair of dual matches next weekend in West Lafayette, Indiana. The Hurricane will square off against DePaul (3-2) on Saturday at 1 p.m. CT at the Schwartz Tennis Center on the campus of Purdue University. TU will then face the Boilermakers (3-5) on Sunday at 11 a.m. CT.
