Tulsa men's soccer coach Tom McIntosh announced today the addition of Jose Robles to the Golden Hurricane coaching staff.
"I am excited to make Jose a part of our family and coaching staff," Head Coach Tom McIntosh said. "I think he'll do an excellent job with our players. He has an excellent track record in terms of recruiting, and most importantly he is a first-class person."
Robles comes to Tulsa after serving the last three seasons at Florida Atlantic, where he was responsible for recruiting, scouting, and coaching the midfield and defensive players. In 2019, the Owls improved on back-to-back two-win seasons with seven victories, including wins over No. 15 Marshall and No. 17 James Madison, and qualified for the Conference USA Championship for the first time in school history.
Prior to FAU, Robles served as an assistant coach at USF for three seasons (2014-16), during which time the Bulls made back-to-back American Athletic Conference championship game appearances (2015 and 2016), claimed The American tournament title in 2016, was named The American Coaching Staff of the Year in 2016, and made NCAA Tournament appearances twice.
Robles previously was an assistant coach at Tyler Junior College (2012-13), where he helped the Apaches to a 2012 National Championship, as well as regional and district championships in 2012 and 2013.
Robles spent the 2011 season as an assistant coach at Bryan College in Tennessee. He has assisted with FAU soccer camps, Success in Soccer Camps and US College Soccer ID Camps, as well as Team Boca, Fish Hawk and Azzuri football clubs throughout his career.
Robles began his playing career at Tyler JC in 2006, earning all-region accolades twice. He then attended Belhaven University where he was a two-year team captain, earned Gulf Coast Athletic Conference all-conference honors twice, and helped his team advance to the NAIA Tournament as a senior.
Robles, who holds a USSF D License, earned his bachelor's degree in sports administration from Belhaven University in 2011.
Robles replaces former associate head coach Ryan Pore who was named as the UMKC men's soccer head coach in January.
