ITA Preseason Rankings Put Martina Okalova and Vera Ploner Among the Nation’s Top Players for 2021

TEMPE, Ariz. –– The University of Tulsa's women's tennis student-athletes Martina Okalova and Vera Ploner received Oracle ITA Division I national preseason rankings, it was announced today.
The duo is ranked 22nd in the country heading into the 2021 season, while Okalova is ranked 86th in the ITA singles rankings. She has an overall 68-33 singles mark, while posting a 14-6 record last year.
Okalova and Ploner have compiled an overall 48-14 doubles record in two seasons as double partners, including a 19-7 mark last season with three wins over top-50 opponents.
In 2018-19, the Tulsa tandem recorded a 29-7 record en route to advancing to the NCAA Sweet Sixteen, thus earning All-America status. The duo claimed a 10-4 record against ranked competition that season.
The Tulsa women open the season on Saturday hosting the Hurricane Invite against teams from Central Arkansas, Louisiana Tech and Wyoming. No spectators will be permitted during the indoor season.
