Tulsa Women Improve to 3-0 With Wins Over UCA and Wyoming

Tulsa, Okla. –– The Tulsa women's tennis team swept the weekend with 7-0 victories in all three of its matches in the Hurricane Invite at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

On Sunday, Tulsa compiled wins over UCA and Wyoming for a 3-0 record after the opening weekend of the season.

Tulsa will travel to Norman, Okla., next weekend to face the Oklahoma Sooners on Friday and Texas Tech on Saturday.

MATCH 1
Tulsa won the No. 1-5 singles matches in straight sets and had a walkover win on Saturday against UCA to take a 6-0 lead into Sunday's doubles matches.

Martina Okalova, ranked 86^th nationally, took 6-3 wins at the No. 1 position, while Shura Poppe, Laie Conde Monfort, Vera Ploner and Valeryia Rozenkova each captured 6-1 and 6-0 victories from flights 2-5.

Tulsa won all three matches Sunday morning to gain the doubles point and the 7-0 victory.

MATCH 2
The Hurricane took its third 7-0 win of the weekend with the shutout over the Wyoming Cowgirls.

Tulsa grabbed the doubles point with victories at the No. 1 and 2 positions. Tulsa's 22nd-ranked No. 1 doubles team of Martina Okalova and Vera Ploner claimed a 6-4 victory, while Shura Poppe and Megan Hopton scored a 6-2 win at the No. 2 spot.

Okalova took a 6-1, 7-5 win at the No. 1 singles slot, while at the No. 2 position it took Poppe three sets to grab her third win of the weekend, 6-4, 4-6, 6-2.

Tulsa's Monfort, Ploner, Rozenkova and Lian Benedejcic grabbed wins at the No. 3-6 positions to close out the weekend for the Hurricane.
