
Women's Tennis Bests SEMO in Season Opener at Hurricane Invite

<strong>TULSA, Okla. –</strong> Tulsa (1-0) finished their first match of the 2026 season with a 7-0 win over Southeast Missouri State (0-1) as the first match of the Hurricane Invite.<br />

The Golden Hurricane secured the doubles point with wins in slots one and three. The duo of Tayla Wilmot and Isabella Basson opened the match with a dominant 6-1 victory at No. 1 doubles, while Lilitha Ndungane and Erin McKenzie followed with a 6-4 decision in the third spot to clinch the point.<br />

Tulsa carried the momentum into singles play, sweeping all six matches in straight sets. Basson earned a convincing 6-1, 6-2 win at the top spot, while Maria Santos battled to a 7-6, 6-4 victory at No. 2, clinching the win for the Golden Hurricane. Carolina Alonso added a 6-3, 6-2 result on three, and Alice Baba followed with a 6-4, 6-3 win at No. 4. Uta Asakura picked up a 6-3, 6-1 decision at No. 5, and Ndungane capped the sweep with a 6-4, 6-3 victory.<br />

The Golden Hurricane will return to the court tomorrow at 9 a.m. to conclude the Hurricane Invite, facing off with Louisiana Tech and Wyoming in separate duals to finish off the opening weekend of the spring 2026 season.
