Joiner Named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll

TULSA, Okla. – Senior Elijah Joiner was named to the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll after leading the Hurricane to a win against the Memphis Tigers, 58-57, in the Reynolds Center, it was announced today.
The Hurricane point guard was one of two Tulsa players in double-figures Wednesday, when TU traveled to Wichita to take on the Shockers.
Joiner averaged 12.5 points, 4 rebounds, 1.5 assists and a steal in the two games. He shot 10-21 (48%) from the field and 4-6 (67%) at the free throw line.
Tulsa trailed Memphis 32-26 at halftime, but Joiner's two and-1 layups allowed TU to go on a 10-2 run to take the lead. Joiner scored 10 of his 14 points in the second half against the Tigers, as the Hurricane swept the season series with Memphis.
Against the Shockers, Joiner finished with 11 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists. He was a vital component in the second half 12-0 run which put Tulsa in striking distance down 5 with 9:43 to go in the game.
This is the first time this season Joiner has been named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll. Joiner's honor is the 5th AAC honor for the Hurricane this season. Brandon Rachal was named AAC Player of the Week on Jan. 4 after leading TU to wins against then No. 5 Houston and Cincinnati. Rachal has also been named to the Weekly Honor Roll twice (Nov. 30 and Jan. 11), while Austin Richie was named to the Honor Roll on Dec. 28.
Tulsa will be back in action on Wednesday, Jan. 20 on the road at the Fertitta Center against the Houston Cougars on ESPN+.
