Idowu's Monster Week Lands Him on the AAC Weekly Honor Roll

TULSA, Okla. – Junior Rey Idowu was named to the American Athletic Conference Honor Roll after have big games at Temple and in a win at ECU, it was announced today.
Idowu averaged 18 points, 6 rebounds and 2 assists in the two conference road contests. He shot 14-21 (67%) from the field and 8-14 (57%) at the free throw line.
Idowu sparked a second half run by the Hurricane scoring 15 of his career-high 20 points for TU against Temple. The big man helped Tulsa come within 7 points of Temple, but the Hurricane fell in the end 76-67.
In the win against ECU, Idowu drew his first start as a Hurricane, scoring 16 points on 7-10 (70%) shooting from the field. He would finish the contest with 8 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal and a block.
This is the sixth time this season that the Hurricane has been named to the AAC Honor Roll. Brandon Rachal has been named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll three times, being named to the honor Nov. 30 after 16.5 points and 5.5 rebounds in the Hall of Fame Classic, on Jan. 11 after scoring 15 points and grabbing 6 rebounds against USF and Jan. 26 after his outing against No. 8 Houston. Rachal has was named AAC Player of the Week on Jan. 4 after leading TU to wins against No. 5 Houston and Cincinnati; the senior averaged 23.5 points and 10.5 rebounds in the two games.
Two other Hurricane players have earned an American Athletic Conference weekly honor. Elijah Joiner (Jan. 18) and Austin Richie (Dec. 28) both have been named to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll this season.
Tulsa will be back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 3 at the Reynolds Center for Legend's Night on ESPNU at 8:00 p.m. against SMU.
