Tulsa Grabs 6-1 Win over Kansas City

TULSA, Okla. –– The Tulsa women's tennis team improved to 5-2 on the season with a 6-1 victory Saturday afternoon over the Kansas City Kangaroos at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
 
Tulsa took the doubles point and claimed five of six singles matches in straight sets for the decisive victory.
 
Shura Poppe, normally slotted at the No. 2 position, played in the No. 1 spot today and claimed a 6-0, 6-2 victory. Laie Conde Monfort picked up a 6-0, 6-1 win at the No. 2 position.
 
A pair of freshmen won at the No. 4 and No. 6 flights, as redshirt freshman Lian Benedejcic grabbed the win at the No. 5 slot, as she completely dominated her opponent with straight set 6-0 victories.
 
True freshman Valeryia Rozenkova captured a 6-4, 6-2 victory at No. 5, while fellow newcomer Leonor Peralta Deas De Oliveira won at No. 6 by a score of 6-1, 6-2.
 
Tulsa will be back in action next Sunday against Cincinnati in a 1 p.m. match.
