Tulsa Women’s Tennis Posts 7-0 Win Over Cincinnati

TULSA, Okla. –– The Tulsa women's tennis team shut out the Cincinnati Bearcats on Sunday afternoon 7-0 at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center and improved its season record to 6-2.

The shutout was Tulsa's fourth of the season.

Tulsa took the doubles point and claimed all six singles matches in straight sets for the decisive victory.

Martina Okalova was dominant at the No. 1 singles spot by cruising to straight set 6-0, 6-0 wins over Ioana Guna, improving her singles record this year to 5-1. Tulsa's No. 5 and No. 6 players, Lian Benedejcic and Leonor De Oliveira, also turned in dominating performances. Benedejcic also pushed her singles record this year to 5-1 with a 6-1, 6-0 win, while De Oliveira captured a 6-0, 6-1 victory.

Shure Poppe spot had perhaps the toughest match, but still managed an impressive 6-3, 7-5 win at the No. 2.

Laia Conde Monfort claimed a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 4 and Vera Ploner captured a 7-5, 6-0 victory.

Tulsa will be back at the Case Tennis Center on Friday, March 5 against the Oklahoma Sooners in a 2 p.m. match.
