TULSA, Okla. –– The Tulsa women's tennis team grabbed a 5-2 victory over the Memphis Tigers on Sunday afternoon to improve its season record to 4-2.

The Hurricane took an early 1-0 lead by capturing the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and 3 spots.

Freshman Valeryia Rozenkova put Tulsa ahead 2-0 with a 6-3, 6-2 win at the No. 5 position followed by Laie Conde Monfort's 6-0, 6-3 victory at the No. 3 position. Rozenkova and Monfort never trailed in their straight set wins.

The Hurricane clinched the win when the No. 1 match was stopped by default. Martina Okalova won the first set 7-5 and was ahead 4-0 in the second when Memphis' Sophie Abrams pulled out of the contest.

Tulsa's Lian Benedejcic's gave Tulsa its final point in the 5-2 victory with a 7-5, 6-2 decision at the No. 6 position.

Tulsa will be in action next weekend for two matches, coming against Kansas City on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. and Sunday against Lamar at 10 a.m.
