Tulsa senior midfielder Chase Bromstedt was one of 30 student-athletes named as a candidate for the 2020-21 Senior CLASS Award®.

To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be classified as an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in four areas of excellence: community, classroom, character, and competition.

A now four-year letterwinner and starter, Bromstedt has recorded eight goals and 10 assists for 26 points.  He was named to the American Athletic Conference all-conference second team as a sophomore, was The American Rookie of the Week once, and has been named TU's "Man of the Match" six times.

Bromstedt graduated in the fall of 2020 with a business finance degree, carrying a 3.36 GPA, and has been named to The American all-academic team three times.  He is also a member of Beta Alpha Psi, an honor society for accounting, finance and information systems students.
Bromstedt has volunteered with Read Across America, Lift Up America and the Food Bank of Eastern Oklahoma.

"Chase's story is similar to so many other athletes in America, overlooked because they physically bloom late," Head Coach Tom McIntosh said.  "He didn't grow or mature until his senior year of high school, but then grew nine inches.  We first noticed Bromstedt while watching his Sporting KC team play during his senior year.  He had a good technique, a good brain and worked hard.  Speaking to Sporting's Jon Parry after the game, we had no idea that Bromstedt was a senior, as he looked so young.  He fought through years of being the smallest player at the highest youth soccer level and never gave up.  Due to his experiences, Bromstedt has a tremendous competitive spirit and combined with his soccer ability has become a very good player."

An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School®, the Senior CLASS Award focuses on the total student-athlete and encourages students to use their platform in athletics to make a positive impact as leaders in their communities.

Each of the 30 candidates has displayed a strong work ethic in the classroom and on the pitch. Outside of academics and athletics, all candidates have also been consistently involved in community service on their campus or in their communities.

The candidate class will be narrowed to 10 finalists in April, and those 10 names will be placed on the official ballot.  Ballots will be distributed through a nationwide voting system to media, coaches and fans, who will select one candidate who best exemplifies excellence in the four Cs of community, classroom, character, and competition.

The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced during the 2021 NCAA Men's College Cup® championship in May.
