Spurgeon Wins Long Jump, Women Record Six Top-Three Finishes at Wichita State Open

Carsyn Spurgeon won the long jump event while the Tulsa women's track and field team took home six top-three finishes on Saturday night at the Wichita State Open in Wichita, Kan.
WOMEN
Carsyn Spurgeon won the long jump event with her jump of 5.93m (19'5.5"), besting Wichita State's Jacque Darby's second-place mark of 5.70m (18'8.5") by eight inches. Rachel Hamel registered a jump of 5.04m (16'6.5") for 18th place.
Ali Lund earned a second-place mark in the javelin with her throw of 45.01m (147'8"). She trailed Deisiane Teixeira who had a throw of 50.17m (164'7").
Jaidyn McCallon, Elizabeth Roca, Ca'Purnika Galbert and Kaitlyn Johnson recorded a second-place time of 47.17 in the 4x100m relay, trailing the Wichita State team's time of 45.87.
Ca'Purnika Galbert crossed the finish line in 58.14 for second place in the 400m dash, trailing Wichita State's Taniyah McMillian's time of 56.94. Kaitlyn Johnson was ninth were her time of 59.68.
In the 100m Hurdles, Rachel Hamel turned in a third-place time of 14.83. Wichita State's Anycia Cole was first (14.58), while Fort Hays State's Mattie Rossi was second (14.81).
Jenny O'Bryan recorded a third-place time of 17:13.48 in the 5,000m run, while Kylee Reed was ninth in a time of 18:54.61.
Brianna Hays time of 4:40.31 in the 1,500m run was good for fourth place.
Cara Johnson was eighth in the 100m dash with a time of 12.21, while Carsyn Spurgeon was 17th (12.46).
Maicie Brown was 17th (2:23.84) and Kinga Parrish was 19th (2:24.36) in the 800m run, while Rachel Hamel recorded a 19th-place mark in the 200m dash with her time of 26.49.
MEN
In the 4x100m Relay, Josh Sutton, Zachary Adee, Henry Visser and Kyran Lacy posted a fourth-place time of 41.88.
Henry Visser ran the 400m hurdles in a time of 56.09 to claim fifth place, while Emmanuel Okwuone was seventh with a time of 56.52.
In the 10,000m run, Brett Davis clocked a time of 30:53.13 for sixth place, while Henry Williams was 10th (31:16.82) and Greg Fehribach was 14th (31:34.25).
In the 4x400m relay, Henry Visser, Emmanuel Okwuone, Kyran Lacy and Jemeni McGee tallied a seventh-place finish with a time of 3:27.10.
Josh Sutton recorded a time of 10.70 for eighth place in the 100m dash, while Zachary Adee was three-hundredths of a second back in 10th place.
Kyran Lacy finished 14th in the 400m dash in a time of 49.99, while Daryl Turner was 25th (51.53).
In the 800m run, Kaden Hicks registered a 16th-place finish with a time of 1:56.05.
