TULSA, Okla. – Chenise Delce and Kylie Norwood dominate for the Hurricane, as Tulsa swept the series opening double-header with 8-0 and 5-0 victories against the Memphis Tigers Saturday afternoon at the Collins Family Softball Complex.

Delce threw 6 shutout innings during game one, allowing just 4 hits against 23 Tigers batters. The Oklahoma City, Okla. native threw a season-high 10 strike outs, picking up her 4th win of the season. From the plate, the duel-threat Delce put in two hits on the day, driving in 3 runs for TU.

Norwood, the Hurricane leader in batting average, continued her strong season going 3-7 with 4 runs batted in with 2 doubles on the day.

The Hurricane improved to 15-10 on the season and 6-3 in American Athletic Conference play, while the Tigers fell to 7-27 on the year and 0-10 in AAC action.

Tulsa will continue the series against the Tigers tomorrow in a series finale double-header starting at 11:00 AM with the second game following 30 minutes after the first. The game will be held in the Collins Family Softball Complex and broadcasted on ESPN+.

GAME 1
Tulsa jumped out to a 2-0 lead after one inning which is all Delce needed, throwing 6 shutout innings in the first game of the double-header.

Norwood began the game with a walk, which was followed by a bunt single from Haley Morgan. Both runners advanced a base as the Tigers third basemen threw the ball away. Delce then sent both runners home on a single through the right side, advancing to second on a fielding error in the outfield.

Tulsa continued its scoring ways in the bottom of the 4th as Imani Edwards led off with a 5-pitch walk. Abby Jones followed Edwards with a single to left field, before both runners moved up a base on a sacrifice bunt by Tajiah Ellison.

Norwood brought both runners home on a double off the center field fence, extending the Hurricane lead to 4-0.

The Hurricane ended the game in the bottom of the 6th as Ellison and Morgan reach by being hit by a pitch. Delce drove in Ellison on an error by the third basemen, giving TU runners on 1st and 3rd with one out.

After a stolen base from pinch runner Gracie Jarvis, Kyle Nash recorded her first career-hit an RBI single to right field. Aubree Seaney's fielder's choice scored Jarvis from third on an interference call by the Tigers' catcher. Rylee Keith hit a walk-off single to left field to give the Hurricane the 8-0 win.

GAME 2
Samantha Pochop continued where Delce left off in the first game, cruising in the circle for TU. The junior went 6 innings of shutout softball, allowing 5 hits while striking out 6. The victory gives her a Hurricane best 7 wins.

Tulsa got the offense going in the second inning, as Ellison started things off with a one-out single to right field. Jones followed suit, singling through the left side of the infield. A Kyndal Pirtle bunt loaded the bases for TU.

Norwood for the second time on the day sent a two-run double to center field, giving the Hurricane a 2-0 advantage. Edwards used a fielder's choice to score Pirtle and extended the Tulsa lead to 3-0.

In the bottom of the 4th, Pirtle singled to start off the inning and stole second base giving the Hurricane a runner in scoring position with no outs. With two outs and runners on the corners, Delce sent a rocket to the center field fence to score both baserunners.

Pochop was relieved in the top of the 7th inning by Kassidy Scott. Scott threw 1 inning of scoreless softball, allowing just one hit in her outing.
