Tulsa Women’s Tennis Downs USF 4-1

TAMPA, Fla. –– Ten days after its last match the Tulsa women's tennis team was back in action Saturday afternoon and took out the USF Bulls with a 4-1 victory at the USF Varsity Tennis Courts in Tampa, Fla.

The 46^th-ranked Golden Hurricane improved its season record to 13-5, while USF fell to 7-14.

USF took a 1-0 lead with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles positions to claim the doubles point.

Tulsa's Martina Okalova tied the match at 1-1 with a 7-5, 6-1 victory at the No. 1 position. The win gives Okalova a 13-3 record on the season. Vera Ploner put the Hurricane ahead 2-1 with a 6-3, 6-3 scores at the No. 4 slot, and Shura Poppe claimed a 6-4, 6-3 win at the No. 3 position to put Tulsa in front 3-1.

Valeryia Rozenkova clinched the win for the Hurricane when she battled back to win the final two sets after falling behind with a 6-1 loss in the first set. She closed out the match with identical 6-2 scores in the final two sets.

Tulsa closes out the regular season at No. 16-ranked UCF on Monday at 11:00 a.m. before beginning the American Athletic Conference Championship on Wednesday, April 21 in Orlando, Fla.
