Tulsa Women’s Tennis Advances to AAC Semifinals with 4-1 Win Over Memphis

ORLANDO, Fla. –– The 3^rd-seeded Tulsa women's tennis team advanced to the American Athletic Conference Championship semifinal round with a 4-1 win over No. 6 seed Memphis on Friday morning at the USTA National Campus.

Tulsa, now 14-6 on the season, plays No. 2 seed SMU on Saturday. Match time is either 9:30 or 10 a.m. (CT).

Unlike the season's meeting, the Memphis Tigers went out to the early lead by capturing the doubles point with wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 positions.

Tulsa evened the match at 1-1 when Valeryia Rozenkova cruised to a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Memphis' Alisha Reayer at the No. 5 position. Laie Conde Monfort gave the Hurricane a 2-1 lead when she claimed a straight set victory at the No. 2 spot downing Aran Teixido Garcia 6-3, 6-4.

Martina Okalova went three sets before getting Tulsa its third win of the match as she downed the nation's 77^th-ranked Sophie Adams at the No. 1 spot by scores of 6-4, 2-6, 6-3.

Vera Ploner clinched the match for Tulsa with a 7-6 (7-3) and 7-5 victory at the No. 4 spot over Memphis' Camila Soares.
