The Tulsa rowing team won all four races and claimed the Lawless Cup over Creighton on Saturday morning at the J. Bird Sr. Shell Nest in Catoosa, Okla.
"I thought that this was exactly what the team needed to do in terms of their racing strategy and we improved from the last time we raced down the course, which is what you want as you near the final part of the season," Head Coach Kevin Harris said. "Thanks to Creighton for coming down and racing us in this COVID season. It was a great chance for us to improve and see where we are as we prepare for the American Athletic Conference championship."
Chloe Henderson, Madlen Markova, Sarolta Papp, Karen Undset, Bobbi Forster, Becky Coleman, Suzannah Hornett, Johanna Kristof and Nicole Workman captured the Lawless Cup with a first-place time of 6:56.8 in the Varsity 8+, while the Bluejays registered a time of 7:05.8.
In the 2nd Varsity 8+, Isabel Stutte, Julia Olawumi, Ariadni Mitsi, Meredith Galloway, Ella Stanhope, Millie Brice, Ivanina Petrova, Bass Andre and Helena Gutzmer tallied a time of 7:11.8, more than 16 seconds faster than the Creighton 'B' boat and 1:24 faster than the Bluejays 'A' crew.
Isabella Musollino, Ermioni Lamprianidou, Kelsey Viane, Chloe Wild and Gabrielle Cook raced the Varsity 4+ to a top finish with a time of 8:13.9, more than 26 seconds faster than Creighton (8:39.8).
In the 2nd Varsity 4+, Erica Taylor, Kyra VanderWeele, Robine Van Doorn, Julianna Lynch and Cloee Graham recorded a time of 8:35.4 to top the Bluejays by 13 seconds (8:48.5).
"I was pleased with the improvement in the Fours as it has been a focus the last few weeks," Harris said. "I also think the changes we've made after spring break have been good. We need to rest, but our team is upbeat and excited as we prepare for conference in two weeks."
