
The Hurricane Starts Strong but Drops Game 3 to Shockers

Kassidy Scott drew her fifth start of the season in the circle for the Hurricane. She started strong forcing the Shockers into three ground balls, only using 8 pitches in the top of the 1st inning.
Kylie Norwood continued her hot hitting during the series by leading off the game with a single. Haley Morgan followed Norwood with a walk putting 2 on with no outs for TU. Norwood scored the first run of the game for Tulsa on a wild pitch.
With 2 outs in the inning Aubree Seaney doubled down the left field line to score Morgan and give the Hurricane a 2-0 advantage.
In the bottom of the 2nd inning, Tulsa used a walk, hit by pitch and single to load the bases for Morgan with one out. Morgan sent a deep ball foul to left field, which was caught, but Abby Jones tagged at third and scored.
The Shockers fought back, with scoring three runs in the top of the third on a single, double and home run to tie the game up at 3-3. Wichita State took the lead in the top of the 4th on a double and single, going into the bottom half of the inning with a 4-3 lead.
The Hurricane answered in the bottom of the inning, as Norwood drove in Jones on a two-out double to right field. Morgan followed suit, using a double to drive in Norwood as the Hurricane retook the lead.
Tulsa could not hold off the Shockers' offense, as Wichita State used a two-run and three-run home run to build a 4 -run lead and take the 9-5 victory.
Sara Llamas-Howell (1-4) relieved Scott in the 4th inning going 1.1 innings, allowing 3 hits and 2 runs. Kylee Nash came in the 6th, finishing the game giving up 4 hits and 3 runs while striking out 3.
The Hurricane fell to 21-13 on the season and 12-6 in American Athletic Conference play, while the Shockers improved to 37-9-1 on the year and 18-4-1 in AAC action.
Tulsa will be back in action Sunday, May 2, for senior day as the Hurricane take on the Shockers for the series finale at the Collins Family Softball Complex at 12:00 p.m. aired on ESPN+.
During senior day, the Hurricane will honor the 4 current seniors in Alexis Perry, Kyndal Pirtle, Kassidy Scott and Sarah Briers, while also honoring the 2 from last season in Madison Higley and Mikayla Whitten.
