After dropping the first two matches of the Tulsa Invitational, the Tulsa volleyball team bounced back, defeating Oral Roberts 25-22, 18-25, 25-22, 27-25 to win in four sets. Tulsa improves to 3-3 on the year while Oral Roberts falls to 6-3.
Avery Kalsu posted a career-high 21 digs to go along with a personal-best 33 assists. Kalsu also served up two service aces while recording a block.
"Avery plays defense at a really high level," head coach Ryan Wills said. "We've always had setters who can play great defense, we want to build this around defense, so if you have a setter who can play defense on top of it, then a lot of other things are going to go well too."
Kayley Cassaday posted a match-best 15 kills, giving her 97 on the year and 4.04 kills per set. Cassaday, who recorded a double-double with 12 digs as well, and freshman Marta Pecalli were named to the Tulsa Invitational All-Tournament Team. It's the second week in a row both players were named to tournament teams.
Tulsa will look to keep its momentum rolling as they face Southeast Missouri in the SE Missouri Invitational on September 17-18 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri.
