Tulsa Volleyball Splits Opening Day of Redhawks Invitational

CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. ― The Tulsa volleyball team split the first day of the Redhawks Invitational, dropping the morning game to Southeast Missouri State before sweeping Central Arkansas in the evening.
GAME 1
The Golden Hurricane dropped the opening match of the Redhawks Invitational to tournament host Southeast Missouri State in four sets, 25-21, 16-25, 25-17, 25-9. Tulsa drops to 3-4 on the season, while SEMO improves to 7-3.
After losing the first set, Tulsa, who was down 5-3 early in the second set, went on a 6-0 run to take a 9-5 lead and force a SEMO timeout. The Golden Hurricane would go on to win the second set 25-16 to tie the match 1-1.
In the third set, SEMO jumped out to an early lead, leading 10-6 to start off the set. The Redhawks would never give up the lead, going on an 8-2 run to close out the pivotal third set 25-17 before rolling to a 25-9 fourth set win.
Kayley Cassaday led the team with 13 kills, while Aysu Dalogullari posted career highs with 10 kills and 11 digs. It was the first career double-double for the junior.
Avery Kalsu posted 23 digs, breaking her career high from last week, to go along with 33 assists. Kalsu posted 33 assists in back-to-back matches.
GAME 2
Tulsa bounced back strong during the evening session of the Redhawks Invitational, sweeping Central Arkansas 25-16, 25-21, 25-18 in straight sets. Tulsa improves to 4-4 on the season while Central Arkansas drops to 2-6.
Aysu Dalogullari, who had a career high 10 kills in the first game, eclipsed her previous career high from the morning, tallying 14 kills to lead the team. Maggie Hembree, who had a game-high five blocks, and Kayley Cassaday both recorded seven kills apiece.
Tulsa will wrap up its non-conference schedule tomorrow against Southern Illinois at noon.
