9/14/2021 1:16:00 PM | Men's Soccer
The Tulsa men's soccer team earned two top 10 rankings in this week's national polls, including a No. 9 ranking by Top Drawer Soccer and No. 10 by United Soccer Coaches. The Golden Hurricane is also ranked No. 20 by College Soccer News.
Tulsa has a 5-0 mark on the season, the best start for the Golden Hurricane since beginning the 2010 campaign 6-0, including wins over #8 Missouri State (3-0) and #9 Marquette (1-0). TU has begun the season with at least a 4-0 start only twice before (2002 and 2010), and it is just the second time in program history that TU has earned wins over two top-10 teams in a single season, dating back to 2007 when the Golden Hurricane topped #4 Creighton and #10 South Carolina.
The Golden Hurricane is just one of eight unbeaten Division I teams in the country.
As a team, Tulsa ranks third in goal differential (10), 14th in saves percentage (0.900), 15th in shutout percentage (0.600), 18th in goals (12) and goals-against average (0.400), 19th in assists (11) and points (35), 25th in scoring offense (2.40), and 26th in shot accuracy (0.514) in the nation.
The Golden Hurricane's highest ranking came in 2010, when TU was ranked at No. 2 in the NSCAA (now United Soccer Coaches), Soccer Times and Top Drawer Soccer polls. Tulsa has been ranked as high as No. 3 in the College Soccer News and Soccer America polls.
Tulsa returns to action on Saturday, September 18 against USF beginning at 11:00 am at Corbett Stadium in Tampa, Fla.
