TULSA, Okla. –– Five Tulsa basketball seniors will play in their final home game at the Donald W. Reynolds Center this Sunday, March 6, as the Golden Hurricane takes on the UCF Knights. Tip-time is 1:00 p.m.
Tulsa (9-19, 3-14 AAC) will be looking for its seventh consecutive Senior Day victory. UCF comes into the contest with an overall 17-10 record and 9-8 AAC mark after falling on the road at Tulane Thursday night, 82-67. The Knights took the first meeting in the season series with a nine-point victory, 76-67, on Feb. 14.
The five seniors –– LaDavius Draine, Rey Idowu, Curtis Haywood, Jeriah Horne and Darien Jackson –– will be honored before the game. Fans are encouraged to be tin the arena by 12:30 p.m. for the senor recognition.
Draine is in his first season at Tulsa following a four-year career at Southern Miss, while the 6'9" Idowu is completing his second season after two years at Illinois State. Haywood has also played two seasons after serving a red-shirt year in 2019-20 following two seasons at Georgia Tech.
Horne is in his second stint at Tulsa as a graduate transfer from Colorado. He red-shirted in 2017-18 at Tulsa after transferring from Nebraska and in his two seasons (2018-20) for the Hurricane scored in double-figures. Jackson is finishing his fifth season with Tulsa having played in 128 career games.
This season, Horne leads the Hurricane with 16 points and 6.7 rebounds per game, while sophomore Sam Griffin scores at a 14.4 clip.
The Knights have three double-digit scorers with Darin Green leading the way with 13.4 points, followed by Darius Perry's 11.1 average and Brandon Mahan at 10.6 points. In the first meeting, Mahan had 16, Perry 12 and Green 11, while Darius Johnson added 14 points.
Horne had a team-highs of 18 points and eight rebounds against the Knights the first time, while Jackson scored 16 points and grabbed five boards.
The Tulsa-UCF game will be broadcast on ESPNU with John Schriffen and Perry Clark calling the action. Bruce Howard and J.R. Rollo will be on the radio call for the Golden Hurricane Radio Network, airing locally on Big Country 99.5 FM.
