TOURNAMENT BRACKET AAC CHAMPIONSHIP CENTRAL  I  TULSA NOTES

TULSA, Okla. ― The third-seeded Tulsa men's tennis team (14-10) begins its American Athletic Conference Championship quest on Friday at 12 p.m. against sixth-seed Tulane (7-14) in a quarterfinal match at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.

The men's tournament begins on Friday with four quarterfinal matches. The Tulsa-Tulane winner will play the winner of No. 2 Memphis and No. 7 Wichita State in one semifinal on Saturday.

Tulsa will be looking to improve its home record this year to 11-4. The Golden Hurricane also looks to avenge an earlier 4-2 road match loss against the Green Wave.

Tulsa closed-out the regular season winning three of its final four matches, including wins over No. 17 Middle Tennessee State and conference foes Wichita State and Temple. The late push moved Tulsa up 12 spots in this week's ITA Team Rankings, the biggest jump by any team this week, to No. 37.

Individually, Kody Pearson, 15-5 on the year, moved up 38 spots to No. 49 nationally in this week's ITA rankings, while he and teammate Connor Di Marco are ranked 50th in doubles play. The duo has knocked off four straight ranked opponents and is 9-3 in dual competition.

The other side of the men's bracket in quarterfinal action includes No. 1 SMU vs. #8 Temple and No. 4 South Florida vs. No. 5 UCF.

Both semifinal matches will be played Saturday at noon with the championship match on Sunday, also at 12 p.m.
