Mark Watt Named Assistant Women’s Tennis Coach at Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. –– Mark Watt was named assistant women's tennis coach at The University of Tulsa following two years as a volunteer assistant coach for the Golden Hurricane, Head Coach Dean Orford announced today.
 
In his two seasons as a volunteer assistant, the Tulsa women posted an overall 32-15 record for a .681 winning percentage and finished as runners-up at the American Athletic Conference Championship each season.
 
"We are pleased to be elevating Mark to the full-time assistant coaching position. He has coached at the highest D1 level and possesses a wealth of knowledge and experience," said Orford. "Mark is a student of the game and has an exceptional analytical tennis mind. We are very fortunate to have Mark continue his coaching career at The University of Tulsa."
 
Before coming to Tulsa, Watt spent one year as the tennis coach at the Strathgryffe Lawn Tennis Club in Scotland. He served as a volunteer assistant coach for the Duke women's tennis team during the 2019 campaign.
 
Watt also served as assistant tennis coach at Coker University for the fall of 2018, while also serving as a tennis professional at Hartsville (SC) Country Club. Previously, he was a tennis coach at Hilton Head Island, working with players from 5-18 years old. Watt also served as head tennis coach and hitting partner for the U14-U18 national level tennis in Glasgow, Scotland.
 
Watt earned his bachelor's degree in sports management from Coker University and his master's degree in business administration from Tulsa.
