Tulsa Hosts Kansas City in Home Opener on Friday; Oral Roberts on Monday

Tulsa's 13th-ranked men's soccer team returns to action against Kansas City on Friday, September 2 beginning at 7:00 pm at the Hurricane Soccer and Track Stadium. TU will then host crosstown rival Oral Roberts on Monday, also at 7 pm.
Prior to the Tulsa-Kansas City game, there will be a Block Party for all TU students at US West Apartments from 5:00-7:00 pm. The Block Party will feature a DJ, shaved ice, food trucks, including 200 food tickets for students, two free drink coupons to students over 21 and lawn games.
Tickets are $5 general admission and can be purchased at the north ticket gate, online at TulsaHurricane.com/tickets or by calling the TU Athletic Ticket Office at 918.631.4688. Champions Fund Members who donate $300+ get in free. A list will be at the north ticket gate or you can show your membership card from last year.
Fans unable to attend the match in person can watch it live on ESPN+. TU fans can subscribe to ESPN+ to watch select Golden Hurricane basketball, soccer, softball and volleyball games. ESPN+ is offered at $6.99/month or $69.99/year. To subscribe, go to plus.espn.com. Fans will be able to access ESPN+ content only after they have subscribed.
Tulsa is off to a 1-0 start after topping Marquette (4-2). Sergio Baena, Thomas Wells and Alex Meinhard each have one goal on the season, while TU's fourth goal came from an own goal.
Alex Lopez has logged all 90 minutes in goal, picked up three saves and allowed two goals for a 2.0 GAA.
Kansas City is 1-1 on the season with a 1-0 loss to Drake and a 3-2 win over Bradley last week. Kazuki Kimura, Philipp Basara and Shfeo Lar each have one goal on the season for the Roos, while Cooper Clark has played all 180 minutes in goal, recorded five saves and allowed three goals for a 1.50 GAA.
Tulsa has a 12-1-2 lead in the all-time series over Kansas City, but the two teams have not met since 2016.
Oral Roberts is 0-1-1 on the season, but will host Drake before making the trip across town. ORU dropped a 4-0 decision at #12 SMU and tied Rio Grande Valley, 1-1. Carlos Santamaria scored the lone goal for the Golden Eagles, while Jeremy Coste has played every minute in goal, picked up six saves and allowed five goals for a 2.50 GAA.
Tulsa has a 23-2-1 lead in the all-time series over ORU, but have not met since 2019.
